Hi Gunjan! Ideally, buy a readymade lehenga - from shops like Frontier Raas/Ushnaq Mal in South Ex or Anarkali/Frontier Bazaar in Karol Bagh. There might be some newbie designers that will make you a lehenga from scratch in a month - but it will also be the beginning of peak wedding season so it might prove to be a difficult task!

I have mentally carved down the images of your mehendi and reception outfits and i am so curious to know whether my mental images will match the real outfits :)
I will be getting married in Delhi in November 2013 and am already freaking out whether or not i ll be able to find my wedding trousseau fitting my budget and since i live in US presently and will be moving back to India only 3 months before the wedding i feel like i wont have enough time in my hands to customize stuff according to my choice. My picky behavior about what i want to wear won’t be of any help either . Anyways i didn’t want to start my pre wedding stress rant here! Just wanted to let you know that your blog is turning out to be my biggest help in deciding where to shop in Delhi.
And thanks to your blog and few other online information i have already contacted few wedding photographers. Tarun Chawla is one of them but considering the amount he charges for his wedding photo shoot i am not sure if i ll be able to afford him …that makes me sad but i am still keeping my fingers crossed.!
You will see my comments and questions more often in your blog. It is nice meeting u online:) Also, if needed can i email you directly for recommendations and reviews of MAU, Wedding trousseau shopping places etc?

I’m get married next month. Everything happened super fast, and with such little time in my hands, your blog is a life saver! I will be having a sikh wedding, so there are 2 main functions- a cocktail and a day wedding. I’ve already bought a pretty lehenga for the cocktail from Shahpur Jat. The tough part is the suit. I am looking for a heavy anarkali- not the floor length type, but something nice and flowy, with about 3 inches of churidar visible. I have been to karol bagh, chandni chowk, bride & groom exhibition, shahpur jat and crescent mall but haven’t liked anything. Can you suggest any good boutiques/ stores that do heavy bridal suits? Sorry about the long post, I wanted to give as much detail as possible. Thank you in advance for your help!
Love,
Guneet

Hi TBD,
I just love love love your blog. So helpful for all the brides-to-be out there! Was wondering if you could do a post on shopping for a wedding wardrobe for the sisters :) My brother’s wedding is in 5 months and I just cant make up my mind on what all do I want. Moreover, a sister’s budget cannot add up to even half of that of any bride, so I am not sure which stores to avoid and which to explore for eg I might want to pick up a saree and a lehenga but not spend more than 15-20 on either.
Look forward to your response/post.
Keep up the good work

Hi Shruti, there are tons of great hotels that will have some nice banquet halls you can choose from in this area. Some names that come to mind are The Grand, Vasant Kunj & Hyatt Regency, Bhikaji Cama Place. Another venue which is mainly used for functions (it’s not a hotel) is Maple Emerald (on NH8), which is a really nice property.

I absolutely love your blog. And its weird cause Iam an 18 year old in no mood to get married :P
Actually I just love weddings.Recently my close relative got married which enabled me to be involved in every small aspect of grand Indian weddings. And its so weird but I feel I have found my passion in weddings.I dont know what related to them,I just felt so happy during those days. And because I was really close to the bride,I was involved in every small aspect and it was wonderful!Maybe it was because the whole affair was soo lavish! It was like a movie set for every function.
Okay so Ill stop gushing about the wedding.I just want to find a way to be closely associated with another lavish wedding.I was trying to contact one of the good wedding planning companies but didnt hear from them.I just dont know what to do.I really want to somehow be involved in a huge wedding festivity closely(whoever it is :P ).I am ready to do anything for being involved(like whatever they make one do as intern event managers).
Could you suggest me what I could possibly do?Are any of your relatives getting married anytime soon? :P
I know my dilemma is kind of weird but I just want to experience all that jazz again :’) Iam sure you’ll understand,You have the same passion.Weird passion, what say?
Thank you and keep doing your amazing job :)

After a surprise trip to Belgium and saying the “YES” it was finally my turn to go through what all bride to be’s go through. And most exciting of all- the wedding lehenga! had read on tonnes of website about om prakash jawahar, ushnaq and lot of other shops..My budget to start with was 60,000 but as i browsed i realised whatever I liked was around 1 Lakh. Considering this is the dress I am to love all my life neither me nor my parents minded increasing the budget a little. First stop was Frontier Raas, same old generic stuff…liked 1 lehenga (sort of). Next Ushnaq Mal.Again (Sort of) liked one. But “sort of like” wouldn’t cut it for my lehenga. Went to a shop called 555 in chandni chowk. Huge collection! and you will find your lehenga here. However I didn’t fall in love with any. Finally went to OMJL. Must say its definitely NOT worth the hype. Rude Salesman. Only friendly if they know you are there for a definite purchase. And honestly 555 had same and in some patterns even more variety. 555 was also cheaper( Almost half) of OMJL. But biggest warning these shops at chandni chowk will brainwash you and you might just make a decision and regret it later. I would strongly suggest choosing your perfect lehenga and sleep over it before you make the decision. After a exhausting and confusing experience at CC I went to The Crescent at The Qutub and entered a Ritu Kumar store thinking it will be outrageously expensive and I am just here to browse and see high end designs. Tried on a lehenga and the price- 1,10,000. No need to decide what colour and material you want, no mix and match like in CC stores. You buy what you see. NO hassle, no bargaining. Its simple and straightforward. If anyone has 1 Lakh and around range I would strongly suggest go the designer way. BIggest advantage- you won’t feel cheated or confused( did i bargain enough or not bull****). I checked out few other designers and absolutely LOvED Jyotsana Tiwari and Suneet Varma. Although Suneet was a tad bit expensive.

Also, I would like to add that I selected a lehenga at om prakash but couldn’t get over how cheap the net bfabric was looking. But that was the only option as the fall of skirt was only looking on the net one. OMJL quoted 1,10,00 and then reduced it to 1.01,000. And for the same price I got a lavish quality Ritu Kumar!!

hmm its actually in an alley so you might have to hunt a little…You will probably (almost definitely) spot a haldirams at CC…. walk in the direction opposite to the metro station……..after about a 5 minute walk you need to enter one of the alleys on your left (haldirams is on right)…just ask anyone around…its on the other side of the road from haldirams….actual address is 354 Naya Katra!… my mom and mom in law went surveying from me as I am based in UK and the shop didnt show them a single lehenga as the decisions maker (the bride!) wasn’t there…so do take your niece along and act as if you are definitely going to buy … they would be more keen on entertaining you….

It has been a HUGE help for me to locate some vendors on the block - especially when I have been out of India for a few years now and will only be returning a month in advance of my wedding on April 19th. Scary, isn’t it!!
If you did have recommendations for wedding decorators ( who are keen to decorate for a small scale wedding, perhaps 200 people) and also help decorate the house, that’ll be great. If you have picked any new destinations for Trousseau shopping in Delhi, please let me know about them as well.
Keep on rocking :) and spread the good cheer around for the brides-to-be!!

As for your questions, I think maatha pattis are still in. Or atleast, for me they are! :) As for how many accessories to put on, totally depends on you! If you want to be all decked up with tons of accessories, go for it. If not, then maybe go for a maang tikka and nath instead of a whole maatha patti. But I love the maatha patti too much, so will always say yes to it!

Hi. I am getting married late April. hardly few days to go. I have not booked my salon for the wedding yet as I am confused whether to go for airbrush make up or Mac. Any help on this would be welcomed :) Also, confused which salon to book in West Delhi. How about Geetajali in janak puri and Ambika Pillai in Rajouri ?

Hi team, my name is Shruti and I’m getting married this December. I have already have a semi-stiched version of my bridal lehenga but need a tailor to shorten the length without compromising the flare (I believe they pleat the kalis to do that). Do you have any suggestions of reliable tailors in the Delhi-Gurgaon area? Thanks very much!

Hi,
One stop shop of ideas to answer all your bridal problems. I love the blog & follow it religiously.
And since I am stuck with one problem myself, a little help from experts will be a great help.
So I am getting married in Feb & plan to buy an engagement gown. I am looking for options in Delhi/ Jaipur/ Bangalore. Don’t intend to spend on splurge on Designer outfits.
Could you please share few shops/vendors that I can check out.
Thanks :)
