Best of Vogue Wedding Show 2015

11 Aug Wedding Design Company - Table Decor with red roses- Vogue Wedding Show 2015

THE Vogue Wedding Show kicked off in Delhi this Friday, and if you’re wondering – was it really worth attending? – the answer’s a resounding yes. Of course, it’s a luxury wedding exhibition, so we expected nothing but the best-in-the business designers and jewellery makers at Taj Palace Hotel.

We spent a whole day at Vogue Wedding Show, and covered every inch of it. Not a single stone unturned. Here are the stalls we loved and our favourite pieces from the show!  Continue reading

Bridal Picks from Manish Malhotra | Amazon India Couture Week 2015

5 Aug Heavy Sequin Gown - Manish Malhotra - Amazon India Couture Week 2015

It sucked that we didn’t get invited to Manish Malhotra’s show. It was one of the 3 shows that took place off-site at Amazon India Couture Week, and for some reason, off-site = limited media entry. I overheard someone state matter-of-factly that only 30 Media Seats were available. Wow, that’s just great. But what about us bloggers, Manish? I thought our meeting earlier this year meant something to you.

Mehak and I got a wedding blogger selfie with the guru of wedding wear! And we actually introduced him to the concept of wedding blogs 😊 #selfie #ManishMalhotra #LakmeFashionWeek #BlueRunway

I thought we explained what wedding blogs are to you, and you…you promised you wouldn’t forget! Is this how you repay us?! For the one hundred and eighty five seconds we took out of our busy lives to introduce the concept of wedding blogging to you?! *turns away dramatically*

Well, let bygones be bygones. Maybe next time we meet you’ll have a gift ready for me. You know, to make it up to me? A lehenga maybe. Well, alright alright. Don’t get angsty *rolls her eyes* Even a dupatta will do.

I need to praise your collection now. These brides na, won’t leave me alone even for 2 minutes to speak to MM. They want to see the pictures NOW. Off you go, M. I’ll see you next at the Vogue Wedding Show, darling. *air kiss* *air kiss*

Inside Shahid Kapoor’s Wedding Reception in Mumbai

13 Jul Kriti Sanon selfie with Shahid & Mira

Have you been watching Jhalak Dikhla Ja Reloaded? I’m only watching it to watch Shahid Kapoor. But while gazing at that adorable smile, I also noticed how much the dancing has improved. Considering this was the very first show of the season, it’s unbelievable how amazing some of the choreography and dance already is! I cannot wait to catch the rest of it.

While I’ve just heard that Shahid might only judge the first 8 episodes, I can’t be sure if that will really happen. I sure hope not! I’ve been depending on Jhalak to keep me from falling into post-wedding blues now that Shahid’s wedding festivities have wrapped up. Yes, that’s right. It’s over, people. The show’s over. And it’s surprising how depressing it is. I will miss all the excitement - What will Mira wear? Which designer will create the outfit? How will Shahid look? Although that last one is a stupid question. Obviously, he will look good. He’s Shahid!

The Best Saris & Suits at Lakme Fashion Week S/R 2015

Best saris and suits anarkalis at Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2015

I’ve been staring at my laptop continuously for the last 5 days non-stop. Lakme Fashion Week just wrapped up last night, and with all the live-streaming on YouTube and press releases in my inbox, I’m just about ready to go on vacation now. A vacation from my laptop. For, like, a day. Because Amazon India Fashion Week starts in 2 days. Ah, the relaxed blogger life :p

I’ve already written about my favourite show from all of LFW this season: Anushree Reddy. But the other designers weren’t far behind with drool-worthy outfits. Of course, I went through videos and pictures of all 45 shows to save you some precious time you can now utilize on more important things - like planning your wedding, going for a run, watching the latest Grey’s Anatomy episode…whatever floats your boat, really.

Manish Malhotra. THE Manish Malhotra! I was beyond excited to see what impressive creations he’d whipped up. And who the Bollywood showstoppers were going to be! Last year, he had roped in Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone! Continue reading

Trending: Phulkari

16 Mar

I generally avoid posts on what’s the latest style in wedding outfits because frankly, I’ve never been able to keep up with it and I’m usually pretty clueless about these things. The most I will do is post a few lines on my Facebook page about a new trend in wedding outfits I’ve seen lately, but that’s about it. But there’s always a first time, isn’t there?

I saw this image on the blog The Diary of a Mad Bride, and I *knew* I had to put it up here. It’s a jacket lehenga, where the jacket is full of phulkari work - from the latest collection by Manish Malhotra. In my opinion, when Manish Malhotra does something, suddenly *everyone* is doing it! So here goes, my two cents on what could potentially become a major trend in wedding outfits this year - phulkari!

At my own wedding, I saw phulkari used in outfits the guests wore:

As a dupatta (I LOVE this suit btw!)

Brides have been incorporating phulkari into their wedding outfits for smaller functions. Mehak of Peaches & Blush turned a phulkari dupatta into a corset to wear on her Mehendi.

While Prarthna, another bride, turned it into a red and yellow dress for her Mehendi (see left most image)!

Sim, another US-based bride, first sat under a phulkari chaddar during her Haldi ceremony, and once it was done she covered her head with it as a dupatta!

People also use phulkari dupattas as the “chaadar” under which a bride makes her entry on wedding day.

I had also considered doing that, as we had a beautiful dupatta at home that had been gifted to us by the mother of a Punjabi bride. But as you can see in the picture, the other side of the cloth is devoid of embroidery and color, so I chose not to use that as the chaadar.

I was introduced to phulkari work only last year, and have fallen in love with it since. It is beautiful, colourful and fits in perfectly with today’s need - people are more inclined towards bright colors, multiple colours on the same outfit, and emboridered work instead of blingy stone work. I suggest you definitely check out Manish Malhotra’s latest collection “Threads of Emotion”, and get some major wedding inspiration!

Would you consider wearing a phulkari work jacket lehenga on one of your wedding functions?
