Beauty Review: New York Facial at Lumiere Dermatology

19 Sep

You’re a bride to be. Your wedding date is closing in. In the mad rush of completing your massive checklist, you forgot all about the multiple-facial-sessions you were supposed to “begin 6 months prior to your wedding.” NOW WHAT?!

Well, I’ll let you in on a little secret. If you’re willing to spill some serious dough (think, 20k plus), you can make your skin wedding-ready in under 1 hour. NO JOKES.

What is this thing that makes your skin look great in under 40 minutes?

A facial.

It’s no ordinary facial, mind you. It’s the New York Facial. Done under the care of Dr Kiran Lohia at Lumiere Dermatology.

Beauty Review New York Facial at Lumiere Dermatology Delhi

When the team at Lumiere contacted me offering a session of the NY Facial back in January, I was skeptical, to say the least. You know I’ve only ever gotten 2 facials in my life before this (both during the run up to my wedding in 2012), so I’m not one to experiment Continue reading

Trousseau heaven.

It’s been a 2 year love affair with Anita Dongre’s bridal wear, and I’m still repeating the same two words - trousseau heaven.

If you’ve been reading the blog long enough, you would’ve figured this out by now - I’m a huge fan. A kid in a candy store. Which is why you can understand why it’s been a very exciting August for me, to put it mildly Continue reading

I had written a series of posts about my favourite Hauz Khas Village stores back in 2012 -

  1. Aumbre
  2. Ogaan
  3. Ole Couture

I re-visited my favourites in 2013, and in what’s turning out to be an annual tradition, I’m heading there AGAIN tomorrow for Indian wear shopping! For the 2014 edition.

I know the places I love the most, but I’m curious to know what’s in your black book. I’ll go have a look at my readers’ top picks - the places YOU love the most! So…

What are your favourite Indian-wear stores in Hauz Khas Village?

Chandni Singh. The most sought-after makeup artist in Delhi. The baap, no wait, Queen of Wedding Makeup. The one who brides want so badly that they will change their wedding date if she’s already booked on theirs (true story! Well, partially!)

How did lil ol’ me land up on her much-fought-for hot seat? Continue reading

Vendor Review: MUA Shruti Sharma of Monsoon Salon

Shruti Sharma Makeup Artist MUA Monsoon Salon review cover

Edit: I just got to know Shruti no longer works at Monsoon Salon. She’s now freelancing as a makeup artist, and you can get in touch with her at +91-8800578358

I first met Shruti when I had accompanied a bride to be for her makeup trial at Monsoon Salon. Monsoon was (and still is) giving free trials for wedding makeup, and I had suggested we give it a try and see if it’s right for the bride. We met Shruti at Monsoon’s South Ex salon, and my first impression of her was Continue reading

Hauz Khas Village Favourites Revisited

16 Jul

I visited Hauz Khas Village for a meeting today, and of course, once the meeting was over I couldn’t stop myself from taking a look at the latest collection at some of my favourite stores. I would’ve visited many more, but it was raining and there were puddles forming all around at a rather rapid speed. So I just dropped by at three stores in the main lane - the ones I’ve already spoken about on the blog before: Rewaz by Dolly J, Ole Couture & Ogaan.

Rewaz has some pretty lehengas - and I saw a few that were along the same lines as the ones I’d seen at Anita Dongre’s bridal wear store in Phoenix Mills as well as at Sabyasachi’s collection at the Vogue Wedding Show - chikankari work on pastel shade lehengas with tiny sequins sparsely spread over them. Of course, they also had some pretty anarkalis that were almost gowns and some stunning lehengas. Basically, you can buy some trousseau wear from here, if you’re willing to spend over 20-30k on saris and suits. The lehengas were in the 40k+ range.

Ole Couture is still the same - I continue to think it’s kind of overpriced, but it has some great outfits. The second I walked in, there was this stunning dark blue pleated long dress with golden sequins on the upper half. So worthy of being worn to a red carpet event! Price was over 20k. I noticed how a lot of the collection was exactly the same as last year’s - saw the same lehengas and anarkalis. Also spotted a very pretty bright pink lehenga with aari work on it, that I had fallen in love with last year. My own wedding lehenga is very similar - but this one is heavier (in weight) and costs more (2.3 lakh). But a lot of last year’s collection is on sale at the moment - 10% to 25% discount. I found out that the sale is almost over, so if you’re looking to buy from there - go TOMORROW!

Ogaan is also still the same - feels like you walked into Indian wear heaven. Nikasha outfits are absolutely stunning - the gorgeous shades, the flowy anarkalis, the delicate work, I just love it all! Prices are sky-high as well, but that’s not surprising as it’s a designer wear store. If you’re looking for pricey gota patti work suits/anarkalis and saris, they have a really great collection. Saffron is another brand that has pretty gota patti pieces in the store at the moment. Prices range from 50k to 75k, so head in there only if you have deep pockets. Lehengas start at 1 lakh.
