The What To Wear To MY Wedding Guide Every Bride Needs To Share With Her Wedding Guests!

2 Dec For blog - Sangeet9

You know how I’m always saying - we don’t take care of our guests enough? Yes, the same people you’ve already organised hotel rooms, logistics and food for? Yeah, sorry to burst the bubble, but that’s not enough.

You have to do more than just pay for their food, you know. When someone’s a guest at your wedding, it’s your responsibility as a host to make sure you’re giving them the best experience possible. Or at the very least, make it as smooth a journey as possible on the days they’re with you.

This is especially true for friends who fly down from all over the country and the world to attend your wedding. “Outstation guests” is what we call them :)

How I Got The Idea

3 years ago, I had a couple of friends flying to Delhi from Mumbai to attend my wedding. Some of them were Catholic, and some thought Delhi wedding = bling bling bling only. I realised they were clueless about what to wear to my North Indian Hindu wedding, and so I quickly made a personalised Little Wedding Fashion Guide for them so they didn’t feel out of place. It included all the different functions, time of day, dress code, what people usually wore on that particular function, the “Bling Factor” and any important things to keep in mind. Continue reading

14 Favourite Finds for Brides! From Shyamal & Bhumika’s Romantic Collection

30 Sep Shades of powder blue outfits group picture - Shyamal and Bhumika New Collection 2015 - A Little Romance - Autumn-Winter Collection 2015

I’M IN LOVE!

I recently fell for a little romance. It was a love so deep, I was most tempted to trade in my husband for…oh, I couldn’t choose which one! The lilac lehenga, or the pale blue gown…or that fiery red anarkali?

It was near-impossible to choose ONE, I’ll tell you that.

No prizes for guessing what I fell in love with - Shyamal & Bhumika’s new collection of the most delicately beautiful Indian wear, fittingly titled “A Little Romance”. With all the romantic hues of fiery red love to pale blues and soft lilacs, it’s a dreamy collection for the princess bride.

Breath-taking, gorgeous, stunning - even these sound like a bit of an underestimation to describe the sheer beauty of it all. The designers categorise this collection as “vintage and period couture with a timeless elegance. The designs will make heads turn, and it’s something out of the ordinary for your special day.”

I loved more than a dozen pieces, and put them all together for you to browse at leisure. The remaining 40 odd outfits from the collection, including pre-draped saris, lehengas, anarkalis and gowns are available right after the Top Picks.

TDB Loves: Shahpur Jat’s Abhinav Mishra & His New Collection

9 Sep Abhinav Mishra 2015 new collection at AZRA

I spotted a lehenga online last year, and it stopped me in my (digital) tracks. It was everything I always look for in a lehenga - light, pretty, and reasonably priced. And it was marked as an Abhinav Mishra design. Who is Abhinav Mishra? And why hadn’t I heard of him?

A quick Google check showed his store was located at Shahpur Jat. Interesting, I thought, that there are still stores in Shahpur Jat I don’t know about. I’ve kept track of his work for over a year now, and watched him produce outfit after outfit that I’ve loved. Consistently. I wasn’t surprised when Pernia’s Pop Up Shop introduced his designs to their online store in June this year. In fact, it gave me the confidence to start recommending him to brides. Getting listed on Pernia’s, after all, is a mark of approval on a designer’s quality.

Last Friday, I finally made my way into his Shahpur Jat store to look at the clothes in person, and see if it lives up to the hype that has had a whole year to build up in my head.

My Best Friend's Wedding 18 Days To Go And I Still Don't Know What To Wear
